Tipografia parametrica e generativa (Parametric and Generative Typography)
is a thirty-two-page booklet that aims to investigate contemporary graphic and typographic
trends related to design executed through computational systems
(from parametric to algorithmic-generative).
Within the layout grid - composed in such a way as to define a golden ratio between
the part of the page occupied by graphic elements and the surrounding white - organically integrate sober, pauperist textual parts, composed in Akzidenz-grotesk and aligned in blocks, and graphic-typographical parts with a markedly experimental nature, in which some graphics coded ad hoc become a graphic element not only as an output of the code, but also as a block of code strings (starting with the cover).
The book outlines a pathway for analyzing generative and parametric technologies in three stages:
1. A brief description of the technological tools that make possible such design methodology;
2. A more in-depth analysis of how the mentioned technologies are applied in the field of graphic design and typography;
3. A selection of case studies suitable for pragmatically describing to what unprecedented design scenarios they open up.
